About

The freewheeling Tankus the Henge, the chameleonic gonzo rock’n’rollers from London; always on tour, never stopping to consider the consequences. Originally based around the songwriting of Jaz Delorean, but now an eclectic gang of international travelling musicians, with a myriad influences to boot. Styled after the relentlessly touring acts of the late 1960s, Tankus the Henge ask what is a band anyway? It’s live, it’s original, it doesn’t answer to anyone. For that one wild night of lights, sound and overwhelming emotion, then roaring off into the night, tyre tracks in the dust.
Over 1000 gigs in, and no signs of slowing down, setting stages alight at Glastonbury Festival (UK), Trans Musicales (FR), Fusion (DE, to Montreux Jazz Festival (CH), WOMAD (E), and Boomtown Fair (UK)… and countless others across the world.

After the release of 2020’s “Luna Park!” - (produced by Gethin Pearson), the band are beginning to work on album #4 and will continue their work collaborating with visual artists to expand their unique world of storytelling.

File next to: The Flaming Lips, Little Feat, Arcade Fire, The Cat Empire, Gogol Bordello, Blur.

Gonzo rock’n’roll?
/ˈɡɒnzəʊ/ adjective - bizarre or crazy. Storytelling that races your pulse and moves your feet.

“What do they know that we do not know? And most importantly, how could we have lived without them for so long?”
Rolling Stone France

“That’s wonderful, ..I love that. It reminds me of a mixture of early Kinks, Squeeze and a bit of Blur mashed in. His voice is his own, …so great. I love it.” (Smiling Makes The Day Go Quicker)  Dave Davies – The Kinks

“Like The Clash from New Orleans” – Nikolaj Torp Larsen – The Specials

“….a virtual carnival of sound that’s high on energy and deep on soul. With copious helpings of R&B, blues, funk, disco, Django, a dose of Dexy’s, a drop of Ray Davies and a pinch of Madness … – it’s an exciting mélange of sound.” – Simon Wells (The Guardian)
